Mid Sussex Senior Cup - Quarter Final Cowfold 2 Forest 0 Two early goals from Tim Martin saw Cowfold march through to the quarter final of the Mid Sussex Senior Cup after an impressive win over county league opposition Forest. Cowfold swept into the lead after only a couple of minutes when Craig Deane sent Sam Leach away down the right, James Wrigley latched onto the resulting cross, volleting the ball goalwards. The Forest keeper made a good save down to his right but couldn't hold on allowing Tim Martin to run the ball into the net. With Forest on the back foot the home side looked strong and created a number of good openings before the second goal came before 15 minutes were on the clock. This time Craig Deane crashed a great shot from the edge of the box which again the Forest keeper could only push out. The lively Tim Martin was first to the ball again as he headed into the empty net. Forest gradually settled and looked as if they might pull a goal back but Cowfold keeper James Fisher made a magnificent save, making good ground backwards and to his left to push the ball away. With the score 2-0 at half time the home side knew that Forest would come out strongly in the second half and another great save from Fisher this time at point blank range kept the visitors at bay. Dan Dalton then cleared off the line after a header from a corner. Cowfold thought they had a third when Nigel Smith headed home from a great Dan Dalton cross but he had just strayed offside. A great win for Cowfold which now sees them go on to play Roffey in the semi-final.
